About

A butcher cutting meat at the block

Our story

Four generations at the block

A family butcher on Gillygate since 1931. Same shop, same trade, still cutting to order.

Since 1931

The same shop, the same trade

Harlow & Sons opened on Gillygate in 1931. Four generations on, we are still here, cutting the same way, buying from farms we know.

We wanted a shop that smells of sawdust and good meat. Not a supermarket, not a gift shop. A proper butcher, where you can watch the whole animal come in and go out over the counter.

Everything is hung and cut on site. If you want to know where a cut came from, ask. We can tell you the farm.
